Expertise
The Clinical Research Unit staff are familiar with the International Committee on Harmonization (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Consolidated Guidelines, as well as Health Canada and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations in relation to clinical trials and what is expected as standard of practice. The Unit also has its own set of standard operating procedures and has staff certified in the transportation of hazardous goods. Staff are required to complete the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
We recognize that pediatric research is a specialized field due to the vulnerable nature of the pediatric population and we strive to ensure that rights of the trial subject are protected. We are advocates for the participants and their families, and we also promote research to ensure that parents and participants are informed as to why research is so important. It is our goal to foster excellence in research and the development and application of treatments and cures.
