Trainee Opportunities

At the Manitoba Institute of Child Health we recognize the vital importance of fostering the career development and mentorship of the next generation of child health researchers. The Institute is affiliated with the University of Manitoba, where many of our trainees are registered students.
Post-Doctoral Fellow Opportunities
Individuals with doctoral degrees, pursuing post-doctoral level scientific or clinical research training are invited to explore areas of pediatric research being investigated by MICH members. Interested individuals are invited to contact the MICH member directly to enquire about fellowship opportunities. Matching funding is available for fellowship awards through the Manitoba Health Research Council’s annual competition; see the Institute Grants and Awards section for more information.
Graduate Student Opportunities
Graduate students who are pursuing a Masters or PhD degree are invited to explore the areas of research that correspond with their area of study and contact the MICH member directly for more details on graduate student opportunities. Matching funding opportunities for graduate students is available through the Manitoba Health Research Council’s annual competition; see the Institute Grants and Awards section for more details.
Undergraduate Opportunities
The Manitoba Institute of Child Health summer studentship program provides opportunities for university or college students to conduct research in a laboratory/clinical setting. Undergraduates (students who do not hold a degree) are encouraged to investigate the areas of research that suit their interests and contact the MICH member directly to determine if they are accepting summer students. BSc Medicine and Dentistry Students
The Manitoba Institute of Child Health provides opportunities for stipends for students pursuing their BSc (Medicine/Dentistry) during their second and third years of medical/dental school, under the supervision of a MICH member involved in child health research. Application and detailed information on this program is available through the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine and the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry.

Everyone working on-site at the Manitoba Institute of Child Health is required to complete University of Manitoba Basic Lab Safety & WHMIS training course and submit your self-test to Debbie Korpesho, 5th Floor Reception or dkorpesho@mich.ca
