Welcome to the MICH Team!
Welcome to Manitoba Institute of Child Health (MICH), you are officially part of the MICH team! Our research Institute has over 270 world-class pediatric medical researchers, technical staff, students and support staff who are involved in over $8 million of research and clinical trial activity each year.
It is an honor to be the Director of Research at MICH. Since I started in September, 2010, the energy and excitement of working here has been contagious. I have enjoyed meeting with the researchers and staff at research rounds and other social functions. I look forward to tremendous growth and expansion over the next 5 years.
MICH sponsors a number of events each year, including weekly research rounds (with lunch provided). We have a Child Health Research Day each year featuring a key theme in child health. We also host of the Annual National Pediatric Resident and Fellow Research competition.
As a member you may have an opportunity to apply for grants or studentships or take advantage of our ever expanding set of core services.
Membership comes with responsibilities and we do expect our members to participate in our activities and volunteer for committees to help ensure a smooth function of our institute. Additionally, it is critically important that we receive an annual report of your research activities – grants and publications. We need members to actively indicate their ongoing interest in being a member, along with their MICH contributions for the year.
Together we can address the key health issues facing mothers, children and youth through high quality research. It will take the whole spectrum of research from the molecule to the person to the community, both quantitative and qualitative. I look forward to working with you as a MICH member and please don’t hesitate to call or email at any time. Our website is www.mich.ca and you can also follow us on twitter.
